You may have read our newswires, browsed the software market, done your level best to keep track of all the changes and delays, so hopefully, when Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD for IT) rolls around in less than a year, you’ll be ready.
That’s right: MTD for IT comes into effect from April 2026 and will impact sole traders, partnerships and landlords with total gross trading or gross property income above £50,000 per year.
(From 6th April 2027, the scheme will apply to those earning over £30,000 gross and from 6th April 2028, the scheme will apply to those earning over £20,000 gross).
However, even the most confident among you might still be worried about managing the transition.
Luckily for you, we’re here to help and with your agreement will take care of it all for you.
Provide up-to-date knowledge
We can assure you that accountants across the UK have been training and upskilling on MTD for years.
More than that, we make sure we keep abreast of any MTD for IT changes that could impact you.
We can deal with the requirement for digital record-keeping practices that are accurate and compliant.
You don’t want to get caught out by a missed deadline or a new piece of legislation – and we will endeavour to ensure you don’t.
Select and use software
If you want to take care of MTD yourself, you might be wondering how on earth you are meant to know which software to use.
Technology is evolving fast, and it can be a struggle for even the most enthusiastic business owners to keep up.
HMRC has provided a list of approved software that taxpayers must use when reporting under MTD for IT.
You probably won’t know, is the answer – but by really getting to know you and your circumstances, we’ll be in a position to help you.
Prevent increased workload
It is no surprise that the move from annual to quarterly reporting – combined with implementing new software, learning how to report digitally, and troubleshooting errors – would increase your workload.
We appreciate that many of you really won’t want this taking up more of your precious time, effort, and resources.
So please be assured that we can handle all aspects of quarterly tax reporting for you, freeing you from the burden of taking on even more work.
